Cookie Policy

Last updated: 12 September 2026

This Cookie Policy explains how Driftwood and Discovery ("we", "us", or "our") uses cookies and similar technologies on our website at [Insert Website URL] (the "Site").

This policy should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which outlines how we collect, handle, and protect your personal data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your computer, tablet, or mobile device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently, remember your preferences, keep items in your shopping basket as you browse, and provide anonymous usage information to site owners.

2. How We Use Cookies

We keep cookie usage to a minimum. We use cookies exclusively to:

  • Ensure core website and e-commerce functions run securely and reliably.

  • Remember items in your shopping basket during your visit and allow you to complete checkout.

  • Collect anonymous traffic data via Squarespace Analytics to understand which resources are most helpful to parents and educators and improve site navigation.

We do not use third-party advertising cookies, behavioural profiling tools, or marketing trackers on our site.

3. Categories of Cookies We Use

Under the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and UK GDPR, cookies are classified into two main categories:

A. Strictly Necessary (Essential) Cookies These cookies are required for the administration, security, and operation of our website. Because the site cannot function properly without them, they do not require prior consent under UK law.

  • Shopping Basket & Checkout: Managed by Squarespace to track items you select, maintain session security, and ensure seamless delivery of your digital downloads.

  • Security & Fraud Protection: Security cookies used by Squarespace and our payment processors (such as Stripe) to protect transactions and prevent malicious or automated misuse.

  • Consent Preferences: A functional cookie that remembers your selections (Accept all, Decline all, or custom choices) made via our cookie banner.

B. Analytics & Performance Cookies (Non-Essential) These cookies collect aggregated, anonymous information about how visitors interact with our pages (such as page views, visitor numbers, and bounce rates).

  • Squarespace Analytics: Placed only if you select "Accept all" on our cookie banner.

  • If you click "Decline all", these non-essential cookies are automatically blocked and will not run on your device.

4. Third-Party Service Providers

Certain trusted third parties place cookies on our behalf to deliver essential functionality:

  • Squarespace: Hosts our website platform, maintains secure sessions, and powers core store operations.

  • Payment Processors (Stripe / Squarespace Payments / PayPal): When you reach our checkout, our processors deploy temporary security and anti-fraud cookies to process card transactions safely.

5. Managing Your Cookie Choices

You remain in complete control over how cookies are used on your device:

  • Our Cookie Banner & Preferences: When you first visit our site, our banner lets you accept or decline non-essential cookies. You can modify your preferences at any time by clicking the "Cookie Preferences" link in our website footer.

  • Web Browser Settings: Most internet browsers allow you to manage or delete cookies via their settings menus (usually under "Privacy" or "Security"). You can set your browser to reject all cookies or notify you before a cookie is stored. Please note that blocking essential cookies may prevent our shopping basket and digital downloads from functioning properly.
