Henry VIII

Script:

In fifteen-oh-nine a handsome youth stepped up to take the throne,

He wasn't meant to be the king, his skills were still unknown.

His older brother Arthur should have ruled across the land,

But died quite young and suddenly-his death was never planned.

So Henry Tudor took the crown and wed his brother’s wife,

It seemed a fine idea back then, but soon brought heaps of strife!

He really wanted healthy sons to carry on his name,

So when he died, another boy could rule the Tudor game.

Queen Catherine had a baby girl, which made him super cross,

He chucked the Pope, divorced her quick, and said it was her loss!

He married headstrong Anne Boleyn and hoped for baby boys,

She had a girl! He stamped his feet and lost all royal poise.

Poor Anne was swiftly sent away and lost her royal head,

King Henry wiped away his tears and married Jane instead!

At last Queen Jane delivered him the son he’d always wanted,

Young Edward was the bouncy prince he proudly showed and flaunted!

Fair Jane fell sick and passed away, the king was in a stew,

He sent for portrait painter Hans to scout out someone new!

Poor Anne of Cleves looked nothing like the painting on the wall-

“I like her not!” the monarch cried, “She does not please at all!”

The hunt was on to find a match for wifey number five,

Young Catherine Howard lost her head; she didn't stay alive.

And last of all, Queen number six was quite a clever brain:

Kind Catherine Parr outlived the king and managed to remain!

She nursed him when his legs were sore until he slipped away,

Then rested, smiled, and wed again-she’d survived his day!
